A different take on chocolate

We’ve been really impressed this month with Oliphen‘s take on traditional chocolate.

The Cypriot confectionery company has introduced mediterranean inspired olives and grape seeds for their antioxdient benefit.  It’s branding bypasses the usual taste/indulgence messaging in favour of scientific benefits of the polyphenols – clinical confectionery if you will.

The design is beautiful, inspired by classic pharmaceutical packaging. The large number on each bar’s packaging delineates its capacity for absorbing free radicals – highly reactive chemicals that have the potential to harm cells.

The Athens-based agency behind the branding describes its design direction as ‘an intertextual play with functionalist pharmaceutical clichés’. Apart from that, we love everything about this brand.
